Dağıtım şirketinde şoförlük yapan Doug Heffernan (Kevin James) ile hukuk bürosunda sekreterlik yapan eşi Carrie Heffernan’ın (Leah Remini) aşk, yaşam, aile ve evlilik gibi konular çevresinde dönen maceralarına tanık oluyoruz. The King of Queens, ilhamını gündelik yaşamdan alıyor. Genç evli çift Doug ve Carrie yaşadığımız çağı yansıtan ev içi gerçekler ile boğuşurken ‘kendi halimize gülmemizi’ sağlıyor.

Doug eşini, işini, büyük ekran televizyonunu ve dostları Deacon (Victor Williams), Spence (Patton Oswalt) ve Richie’yi (Larry Romano) çok seviyor. Doug’ın yemeğe olan aşırı düşkünlüğüne, Carrie’nin pahalı elbiselere karşı tutkusuna rağmen birbirlerine olan aşkları, karşılaştıkları her türlü çıkmazı aşmalarını sağlıyor.

Dizide onlara Carrie’nin babası Arthur (Jerry Stiller) eşlik ediyor. Arthur pek çok yer dolaşmış, hafif çılgın bir karakter. İkinci eşinin ölmesi ve evini ‘yanlışlıkla’ yakmasının ardından kızının evine taşınana kadar Doug ve Carrie için her şey yolunda giderken; evin düzeni bir anda tümüyle değişti. Şova katılan konuk oyuncular arasında Gavin MacLeod, Donny Osmond, Ben Stiller, Bill Cosby, Lou Ferrigno, William Hurt, Florence Henderson, Eddie Money gibi ünlü sanatçılar var. Enterainment Weekly adlı dergide çıkan habere göre dizi ABD’de 15 milyon izleyiciye sahip.
